Meet The Founder And Her Story
Hi my name is Nhu! (Pronounced 'nyoo' or 'new') For over a decade, I worked in a small retail store from the age of fifteen.
My job became my identity where I worked most days of the week and for long hours. My final years of working in retail had lead me to feel severely burnt out mentally and physically.
I thought to myself at this point it was actually scarier to stay the same than to be in the discomfort of change.
So in March 2023, I made the difficult decision to walk away from everything that once felt familiar. This newfound freedom allowed me to finally focus on my health, well-being, and self-care.
Why choose Nüna?
Growing up in an immigrant Asian household, I often avoided using my real name, opting for Western names to fit in. Now, in my late 20s, I’ve learned to embrace even the sound of my name, my culture, and my identity fully.
NÜNA is more than just a name, when I came up with the name it carries a deep and personal meaning.
It took me two years to find a name, and when I finally did, it felt just right. It was like the long search was finally over.
Although I come from a Vietnamese background, I always took interest in modern day Korean culture through listening to kpop and the kdramas I would always watch.
Through these interests I discovered the Korean word “noo-na,” meant a respected older sister figure. Being the eldest daughter of three myself, I've alway felt love and care for my younger sisters.
So I wanted NÜNA to represents care, protection, and guidance, like an older sister having your back and looking out for you.
What Is NÜNA's Mission?
This journey to self-care led me to create NÜNA. Not just as a business but as a movement.
The movement that reminds you that growth starts from the small things you do to take care of yourself daily. These small things are what can lead to bigger changes.
